Houston has provided great opportunities to get out and meet people who have contributed greatly in getting this message out to the community.
Houston has been so welcoming to me. I believe part of the charm is that many Houstonians have moved here, just like I did, without knowing many people which creates a welcoming environment. People move from all over the world to be in Houston, which makes it such a diverse and unique place to live.
The Houston community has been incredibly supportive of small businesses. And in general, Houstonians (and Texans) are some of the friendliest people I’ve ever met. My business, Flea at Silver Street, would never be where it is without the support of the local community and I am forever grateful to our family of vendors who have grown with us.
“Houstonians are so supportive and giving! I have made some really great friends and connections through my business work and charitable efforts. I’ve found if you need help with something, there is always an abundance of volunteers if you ask.”
From a personal perspective, I think the mom’s groups helped tremendously when I was a first time mom – I am a natural extrovert, so having a support group of mom’s who were in the same stage of motherhood was super helpful.
I have been so heartened by the kindness and giving spirit of the Houston community. I have come across so many entrepreneurs in the mom and baby space who have all have been so supportive and encouraging of my new venture. Although I’m still fairly new to Houston, I can see how the strong feeling of community and connection is a reason why people choose to live here
