Meet a Houston Mom – Meet Emily Calidonio the HTX Brow Queen | West University Moms

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Houston?

Emily: I am born and raised in Houston!

Child(ren) and Age(s)?

I have a 2-year-old son named Eren.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

That I can sing and not just in the shower lol. I once was part of the Lakewood Church Choir.

Favorite local activities to do in Houston?

Discover local coffee shops and visit new Houston restaurants. I’m an undercover Foodie!

Do you have a favorite family-friendly restaurant in the area?

So far I have found myself going back to True Food Kitchen. FYI you have to try their RX Refresher it’s the best iced-beverage ever!

What local places do you go to for pampering and/or mom’s night out?

Perfect night out with girlfriends is dinner at Caracol followed by drinks at Anvil.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world?

I love to empower woman through Beauty. For the past 12+ years, I have had the opportunity to work with top Luxury Beauty Brands, be part of Houston Fashion Shows as a Makeup artist, and work with Reality TV Stars. Working with Anastasia of Beverly Hills early on in my career is what helped me discover my passion for Brows. As a Certified Microblading Artist my duty is to help my clients achieve the best look for their Brows.  Follow me at @HTXBrowQueen on Instagram!

My new ventures include Certifying in Paramedical Tattooing where I will be able to work with cancer patients in 3D Areola Restoration, and scar camouflaging. This work touches my heart as I am reminded of my aunt who lost her battle with cancer.

My mission is to continue empowering women through beauty so that they can make an impact on other women and create a positive effect in our community.

How has the Houston community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

Houston Community is tight-knit and so supportive! Most of my business has come from word of mouth and referrals. I am so grateful to be part of such a wonderful and supportive city.

What is the best advice for juggling mommyhood and running a business (or volunteering, working, etc)?

Carve out time for yourself daily maybe even turn off your phone for a couple of hours.  Focus on what brings you peace and joy.

What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids?

All your fears of not being able to have children due to health issues will fade away and you will be able to have the family you always wanted to have.

Funniest shortcut/routine for helping you through parenthood?

Best way to get a sort of work out and tire out my son is to turn on some music and dance with my 2 yr old. He loves it and falls right asleep after his bath.
