Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Houston?
I was born and raised in Sugarland. The boys and I made the big move to HTX, specifically West U 4 years ago. I truly can’t imagine raising my boys anywhere else, there’s just something special about the energy and community in our sweet little neighborhood.
Child(ren) and Age(s)?
I have two boys, Jackson (10) & Hudson (8). They’re the heart behind everything I do… and the original HYPEBROS. They couldn’t be more different from one another. Jackson’s the thinker and Hudson is my thrill seeker, both keep me on my toes.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I can’t sit still, those who know me know that I’m always on the move. I’m pretty goofy and over-caffeinated at all times.
Favorite local activities to do in Houston?
Anything that involves being outside with my boys. Little League games, tennis, walks around the neighborhood or our local favs (little Matt’s, Tiny’s & Mercato), trying different workout classes (shoutout to Khango, hardest workout in HTX) & just spending time with our family/friends.
Are you involved in a business venture, local organization, creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
Yes! I’m the founder of HYPEBROSCO, a mom-and-sons-owned kids’ athleisure brand we launched in December. It’s rooted in being exclusively inclusive, creating pieces that help every kid feel confident, cool and like they belong, no matter their “thing.” We’re already in local Houston boutiques and growing quickly, but the mission goes far beyond clothing. It’s about building confidence, creating community and raising boys who lift each other up. This journey has been such a blessing for our family and has opened the door to some really exciting collaborations, stay tuned!
How has the Houston community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
Honestly, HYPEBROSCO wouldn’t exist without Houston. This city shows up. From moms sharing posts, to kids wearing our pieces, to local stores believing in us early, it’s been the most powerful kind of grassroots support. HTX rallies behind its people and we’ve felt that every step of the way.
What is the best advice for juggling mommy hood and running a business?
I don’t try to juggle it, I focus on being fully present wherever I am. If I’m at a game or a tennis match, I’m all in. If I’m in meetings or building HYPEBROSCO, I’m all there too. That’s where the magic happens. It might mean waking up earlier, staying up later & YES drinking more coffee but it’s such a fun season of life. I’m especially grateful I get to include my boys in the journey. They’re learning so much at a young age about chasing dreams and what it takes to build something of your own.
What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids?
Slow down and soak it in, life is about to get louder, fuller & more meaningful than you can imagine. You won’t have it all figured out, and that’s okay. You won’t lose yourself either you’ll meet a stronger, more grounded version of you. One that can handle more, love deeper & care a whole lot less about the noise. Give yourself grace. The love you’re about to experience will change you in the best way, and those little moments you think are small? They’ll end up being everything.
Funniest shortcut/routine for helping you through parenthood?
Lower the bar on perfection & raise the bar on connection. If everyone’s fed, loved & laughing…we’re winning. Always have snacks they are the universal reset button and car rides make for the best built-in one-on-one time. Dance in the kitchen and say yes to the silly stuff. Beautiful chaos and laughter…thats our system.
