Does anyone else find Labor Day to be bittersweet? Marking the end of the summer, luckily, this holiday weekend in Houston is full of events, attractions and lots of fun! 

Family Movie Night: Solo / Levy  Park / August 30  The Force Is Strong tonight at Levy Park’s Family Movie Night, sponsored by Texas Children’s Hospital.  Enjoy “Solo: A Star Wars Story” under the stars, bring a blanket and some snacks and enjoy this rare opportunity. 

East End Labor Day and Libations Street Fair / East End Esplanade / August 30

Join Merida Mexican, Ninfa’s, El Tiempo and other exciting vendors on Houston’s East End for a street fair with awesome vendors, music, arts, food, drinks and entertainment. 

Peppa Pig Meet-and-Greet / Children’s Museum of Houston / August 31

Meet your favorite little pig and snap a sweet picture together! Hang with Peppa and Sir George and show off your pinky style by making pig ears and tales to wear!  Join us as we welcome the English piggy to the Children’s Museum.

Bach & Piazolla, Aaja – A Tale of Karmic Destiny / Miller outdoor Theatre / August 31, September 1

Enjoy two performances over Labor Day weekend at Miller outdoor Theatre. The first is Bach & Piazolla, which is a unique multimedia orchestral experience that combines the seductive tango with the perfection of J.S. Bach. Aaja – A Tale of Karmic Destiny combines Bollywood, cirque and contemporary styles into an intriguing and beautifully told story. As usual, tickets for the covered area are available for purchase and tickets for the lawn are free!

Houston Symphony Orchestra Presents “The Little Mermaid” / Jones Hall / August 31 & September 1

Perfect for the entire family! Join the Houston Symphony, Ariel and friends for an adventure “Under the Sea” as Disney’s 1989 animated classic, “The Little Mermaid” projects onto the big screen at Jones Hall. The acclaimed symphony orchestral will perform the complete Oscar-winning score as the movie plays.

10th Annual Brewmasters Craft Beer Festival / Moody Gardens Hotel, Spa and Convention Center / August 30-September 1

Nothing says Labor Day like an ice-cold beer. Join fellow craft beer lovers from Aug. 30 through Sept. 1 for the 10th Annual Brewmasters Craft Beer Festival. This foam-filled weekend features a stellar line-up of beer education and experiences featuring hundred of beers, Taste it First selections and events like the Texas Brewery Tasting Tour, BrewHaHa Grand Tasting and Brew-B-Que. Located at the Moody Gardens Hotel, Spa and Convention Center.

 

Taste of the Caribbean Festival / Crown Festival Park / September 1

Head to the islands, if only for the day! The Taste of the Caribbean Festival celebrates the delicious flavors and signature dishes from the 28 island nations that make up the Caribbean. Aside from the indigenous food and drink, guests will experience the music, poetry, dance and art that make up the area’s unique culture.

Icons of Style: A Century of Fashion Photography / Museum of Fine Arts Houston / September 2

Typically closed on Monday, the MFAH will be open for visitors on Labor Day. Enjoy the icons of Style: A Century of Fashion Photography exhibit before it end on Sept. 22. The exhibit explores the rich and varied history of fashion photography through more than 200 photographs.
