Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Houston?
I am a Houstonian born and raised.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?
Our Sweet Angel in Heaven- Ashlyn would have been 12
Isaiah -10
Sydni- 6

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
How funny I am.

Favorite local activities to do in Houston?
Weekend staycations in Downtown Houston.

Do you have a favorite family-friendly restaurant in the area?
Harry’s in Midtown. My husband has a lot of business lunch meetings at Harry’s. He is just a regular in there. So, when we all go as a family it is like they roll out the red carpet. LOL…

What local places do you go to for pampering and/or mom’s night out?
Mom’s night WHAT?! LOL Believe it or not I am a homebody. There are times I do not like to start up my car LOL. I really like to kick back in the comfort of my home, no makeup, throw on my cozy bathrobe and slippers, sip my favorite glass of wine, and really Netflix and chill.

But I would have to stay when I am able to step away, I enjoy going to Retrospect Coffee Bar on La Branch to get some fresh air and a change of scenery.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
“When life gave me lemons… I made a lemon sugar scrub…”

I am the founder of Oh So Sweet Scrubs, LLC. Specializing in handcrafted, all-natural, cruelty-free, vegan skincare products that will soften and hydrate your skin from your face down to your feet. We want people to feel good about themselves from the inside and out and to have that Oh So Sweet skin afterward.

Here is the backstory of how it all started… and not even realizing what was in the making ten years later. When my son was born in 2010, he was a preemie weighing 2lbs, during and after my pregnancy I suffered from lots of skin breakouts, acne, dark spots, and acne scars. Being a new stay-at-home mom and going back and forth to the doctor’s appointment to nurse my baby to good health, at that time life was extremely hectic, stressful and emotions were all over the atmosphere. My husband worked two jobs to support our family since I was not able to return to work. At the time, my self-esteem was at a low.

There was a time in my life where I was lost and did not have joy inside, I was faced with moments where I did not feel as though I was good enough to achieve what life had to offer. I wanted to make a change from within, so I decided to start pampering myself at home by making my own skincare products and [ended up] achieving really great results.
Fast forward to Mother’s Day 2018 as I hosted the holiday and gifted all the ladies with a handcrafted body scrub to take home. They all enjoyed their gift and a few months later I attended a dance event with my daughter and was inspired by the women at the event selling their items and promoting their businesses. Soon after we left the event, we headed to the grocery store and begun the work and creation of Oh So Sweet Scrubs.
Since launching in September 2018 we have developed a total of 26 products with more to come. But I must say I could not do any of this without the grace of God and Jesus Christ, the support of my family and friends, especially my husband Anthony whose always there by my side through the highs and lows. He helps in areas where I can be blinded, words cannot express my gratitude and appreciation for him. Plus, we’ll be celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary this month.

How has the Houston community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
OMG, such an extremely huge support system! From the beginning stages of working with so many Houston-based businesses from branding, marketing, graphic designers, being a part of so many markets and events in the Houston community. Meeting and interacting with so many amazing supportive customers and the many small business owners in the city have always been so awesome. It has been such a blessing to see where it all started, to see where it is all headed.

What is the best advice for juggling mommyhood and running a business (or volunteering, working, etc)?
You must trust and have faith that God is holding and protecting you in every aspect of your life. He will never leave you nor abandon you. Began to pray for strength daily, journal your thoughts. Pray for yourself, your spouse, your children, your vision, and your goals.
No day will ever be the same. Every day comes with its own struggles, challenges, and difficulties. But as a woman, wife, and mother, and business owner we must take it all in and strive to be the best revisions of ourselves. There are so many people depending upon us to show up and deliver. Especially the people that know us best and matter the most our families. In motherhood, there are not any days off LOL.

What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids?
Breathe Lesh, just breathe you got this… LOL.

Funniest shortcut/routine for helping you through parenthood?
This saying is so true: “Sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying.” I try to find laugher in parenthood all the time. As my kids are getting older, OMG there are so many funny moments. Like I said before no day is the same.
I call my kids *MY* mama and daddy LOL Because they are very overprotected of me and want to know every signal detail of what I am doing.
There are so many joys and beauty in parenthood I just take it in every day and look to see what the next day holds for us.
