Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Houston?
I was born in Houston in 1991 and have lived here all my life.
Child(ren) and Age(s)?
I have a six-month-old son named Henry.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
Despite being an organizer, I have pretty bad ADHD. Tidying and other domestic tasks just happen to be what I hyperfocus on.
Favorite local activities to do in Houston?
I love checking out all the unique goodies at the myriad of specialty grocery stores we’re lucky enough to have here.
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!
Although I gave up in-person organizing with the birth of my son to focus on homemaking, I’ve continued the online world of Method31. I share practical tips and stories about work and lifestyle organization over on method31.com.
How has the Houston community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
I hate networking but I’ve been lucky enough to meet a handful of supportive people who not only helped boost my business while working but also made a significant impact in terms of my battle with postpartum depression.
What is the best advice for juggling mommyhood and running a business (or volunteering, working, etc)?
First and foremost learn your strengths and admit your weaknesses. Get someone else to cover those. The “do it all yourself” mindset is a lie and everyone needs help, but delegation is a muscle that requires a little training.
What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids?
Honestly, she wouldn’t have listened anyway. I had to go through it to really believe how much I could take on.
Funniest shortcut/routine for helping you through parenthood?
Locking my phone screen and snapping my eyes shut so the baby thinks I’m asleep and resettles!
