Meet a Houston Mom | Meet Nicole Louvar of Guided Capital Wealth Management | West University Moms

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Houston?  I’m originally from Albuquerque but we’ve lived in Houston for 20 years so I consider myself a Houstonian.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?  I have 2 daughters – Blake age 8 and Reese age 6

One thing people would be surprised to know about you… I was a natural gas trader for 15 years.

Favorite local activities to do in Houston?  I love riding bikes with the kids along the bayou and trying new restaurants with my husband.

Do you have a favorite family-friendly restaurant in the area?  What’s great about Houston is a lot of the good restaurants are family friendly if you go early!  Although, we mostly find ourselves at Mia’s, Hungry’s, Los Tios and of course Little Matt’s.

What local places do you go to for pampering and/or mom’s night out? Nothing can beat Trellis for a day of pampering.  Mom’s night out is usually a great dinner with some great wine at my favorite restaurant – State of Grace.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share! I own Guided Capital Wealth Management with my husband.  We are wealth managers who work with clients who value financial independence.    We’ve developed a process where we put all the pieces of the financial puzzle together to help our clients accomplish their goals. We focus on really getting to know our clients and understanding what is important to them.  As our clients’ lives unfold and needs evolve, we put the next piece of the puzzle together. It’s been so rewarding to see the happiness a client experiences when they know they will be able to accomplish the goals they’ve set for themselves and their family.

How has the Houston community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?  Houstonians are really great at offering advice and support – especially other moms and women who own businesses.

What is the best advice for juggling mommyhood and running a business (or volunteering, working, etc)?  I’ve always been a planner, but owning your own business takes planning to a new level! As a family we try to plan our week on Sunday so everyone knows what’s coming up.  This way we can tackle bigger homework projects on our lighter days and schedule playdates for the kids when we don’t have as much going on. It also helps my husband and I plan our date nights!

What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids? Enjoy your downtime!  Enjoy those weekends and evenings where you don’t have plans because once you have kids, downtime is basically gone!

Funniest shortcut/routine for helping you through parenthood? The drive through at Chick Fil A on those busy sports nights!
