Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Houston?
I’m originally from Houston, I grew up in the Clear Lake area. I left Houston when I went off to college and stayed on the east coast for a couple of years after graduating. However, I knew I wanted to start a family and raise my children in Houston so I moved back.

My daughter, Alyssa, is 11 years old and my son, Avery, is 8.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I think people are really surprised to hear that I love fishing. My grandfather would take me and my siblings when we were younger. There’s something about the water that is so calming to me.
Favorite local activities to do in Houston?
I thoroughly enjoy volunteering with my sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
Do you have a favorite family-friendly restaurant in the area?
The kids’ favorite place to go is Benihana’s. They love watching the chefs cook and the food is great!
What local places do you go to for pampering and/or mom’s night out?
I love to be pampered at the Isle Pedispa on Kirby. My friends and I like to grab drinks and lite bites at the Moxie Bar and Grill for a girl’s night out.

How has the Houston community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?
The Houston community has been a major part of Lux Style & Design’s success. We have so much talent coming out of Houston and it’s been wonderful to share this talent with not only people in Houston but also those in other states. It makes me proud to hear someone from Houston being recognized on a national level. We have a huge fashion community in Houston and I look forward to seeing its growth in the coming years.
What is the best advice for juggling mommyhood and running a business (or volunteering, working, etc)?
I would tell them to take one hour out of their day to do something for themselves. It could be anything from getting your
nails done or taking a long walk. Whatever it is, just remember to take an hour out of the day for you. It will make you a much better partner, mother and business owner.
What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids?
Enjoy and appreciate sleeping.
Funniest shortcut/routine for helping you through parenthood?
Enjoy every moment and don’t take anything for granted.
