Meet Yoga Mom and Entrepreneur Amanda Hale, Owner of Yoga Tres in Bellaire | West University Moms

Where are you originally from and how long have you lived in Houston?

I’m originally from Lufkin,  a small town in East Texas. I moved to Houston during college when I transferred to University of Houston in 2002 and have lived here since then, almost 20 years!

Children’s names and ages:

I have a son, Carter who is 6 and just started 1st grade. I have a daughter, Harper who is 4 and is in pre-k.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you:

A little over a year after my husband and I met, I quit my job and took a hiatus from MBA school to move to Africa with him for a job promotion. We lived in Equatorial Guinea on a compound for 5 years. It was amazing!

Favorite local activities to do in Houston:

Our activities nowadays revolve around our children. We love heading to the zoo, children’s museum, local parks and kid friendly restaurants like Little Matt’s.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!

I own Yoga Tres. We offer Hot Yoga, Flow Yoga, Yin Yoga, Hot Buti Yoga and Fitness classes (a combination of Yoga, Pilates, weight training and HIIT). We are located in the heart of Bellaire (at the corner of Bellaire Blvd. and Chimney Rock) and easily serve West University, the Galleria, River Oaks, Missouri City and students commuting through our area.

We have the most affordable Yoga in Houston. We want to make Yoga accessible to everyone! Our New Student introductory offer is 3 weeks of Unlimited Yoga for only $30. Our monthly autopay membership is only $70 per month (regular $90) when you sign up within your New Student Special, and no contracts are required!

We have the best and most experienced teachers in Houston! All of our teachers have been teaching for many years and have multiple teacher certifications.  We are locally women-owned and are community-focused!

Our studio is huge! Come check out our newly renovated 4000 square foot space. We also have spacious restrooms and showers, perfect for heading off to work or running errands after a sweaty yoga class!

How has the Houston community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

I would have never made the decision to open up another studio if it hadn’t been for all the local students cheering me on and supporting me. Their continuous support every day keeps me going, even on the tough days. I appreciate every person coming by, taking a class, and letting me know how thankful they are that were open. I want Yoga Tres to be a space where the local community can come practice yoga safely, and hang out with friends!

What is the best advice for juggling mommyhood and running a business (or volunteering, working, etc)?

My best advice for a mom juggling business and family is to set a strict schedule, delegate, and ask for help! You can’t do it all. It’s ok to delegate your work and ask for help from family and neighbors. Your kids will be OK. Also, schedule some time for YOU. It may seem impossible but you are worth it. You can’t run the show if you’re past your breaking point. Schedule in a day or weekend off and turn your phone off! Stop working past a certain time in the evening. Get in a workout or Yoga class!

What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids?

I would tell the old “me before I had kids” that I am capable of doing so much and it’s not difficult! Just put in the work and it will pay off! I’d also tell the old me to wear more sunscreen and stay out of the sun!

Funniest shortcut/routine for helping you through parenthood?

I “fib” to my kids about what they are eating. I really don’t have to do it anymore but when they were younger, I told them healthy food was something they loved to get them to eat it. I wanted my son to eat more hummus and vegetables so I told him hummus was icing and the “spices” were sprinkles. I had him try a sweater flavor of hummus, sun-dried tomatoes, and he loved it! He was dipping carrots and cauliflower  “dinosaur bones” into the icing all day!
