Maybe you’re one of those effortlessly stylish dressers… the mom who keeps up with the trends, knows
the right denim wash and consistently updates her closet. Or, perhaps, you’re more like me…with a
wardrobe filled with old maternity clothes, postpartum wears and styles from three years ago on
mismatched hangers.
Personally, after two kids and yo-yoing with weight loss, changing trends and changing diapers… I
jumped on the bandwagon that many of us moms lovingly call “active-wear”. With the desire to update my
look and take back my style, I called Valerie Halfon, the founder of Shop With Val for a Closet
Consultation.
Valerie Halfon is dedicated to helping her clients find practical fashion for everyday life and for all of the
special occasions in between. Shop With Val makes the experience hassle-free, enjoyable and
efficient. She brings a custom approach to every client and caters to their individual needs, budget and
personal style.
During our Sunday consultation, Valerie helped me reclaim my closet by weeding out old pieces and
re-assembling several existing cute outfits. She paired garments that I had never even previously
considered. She was very down to earth and knowledgeable… I felt like I was hanging out with a good
friend with impeccable taste. Her suggestions were reasonable, and I never felt like I was being forced to
compromise my own style. We discussed big picture items as well as small details like necklace
lengths, the importance of metallic shoes, etc…. even to hiding the stubborn armpit jiggle with the right
fitting bras and sleeves.
Val was able to analyze my current wardrobe and helpfully made a list of key missing pieces. She gave
me a shopping “action plan” of necessities to help me achieve the casual yet polished look to work with
the rest of my clothing. She also gave me a comprehensive outline of how to maximize my own storage
area (so, so helpful!)
Valerie also assists clients with one-on-one shopping sessions; The stores and clothing are selected in
advance with styling tips shared throughout the process. In this way, clients learn how to flatter their body,
mix and match pieces and/or ensemble-looks that fit their style as well as their budget.
