Welcome, 2019!
Pantone, Benjamin Moore, Sherwin Williams & PPG have all chosen different colors for 2019’s Color of the Year. In my opinion, the Color of the Year is whatever makes you happy.
Pantone | Color: Living Coral
Pantone’s Color of the Year Embodies Our ‘Need for Optimism and Joyful Pursuits’ in 2019.
Benjamin Moore | Color: Metropolitan
Benjamin Moore named Metropolitan, a sophisticated gray, the defining shade of 2019. The selection is meant to emphasize the “calming role gray plays in society.”
Sherwin Williams | Color: Cavern Clay
Sherwin Williams, meanwhile, went the opposite direction. Dubbing Cavern Clay their pick for 2019. An orange-y hue that heralds ‘2019 as the renaissance of the 1970s—with a twist.’ The company’s Director of Color Marketing stated, “Cavern Clay is an easy way to bring the warmth of the outdoors in. Envision beaches, canyons and deserts, and sun-washed late summer afternoons.”
PPG | Color: Night Watch
PPG chose the color Night Watch, a rich teal. Joanna Gaines (from HGTV’s Fixer Upper) is seriously crushing on a similar paint color, Magnolia’s luxe Weekend Blue. The designer wrote of her new go-to shade, “It is the calming blue of retreat and relaxation. To me, it just feels like home.”
