Meet a Houston Mom - Meet Dale Volpe of Styled By Dale - West University Moms
Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Houston?

Most originally from Dirty Jers, but like so many of us, I considered myself a New Yorker. Houston for 11 years.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?

One daughter, Candace, she’s 8 and lovely

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I wear crocs in the privacy of my own home… and sometimes to Pilates

Favorite local activities to do in Houston?

1- I love to browse the boutiques at Tiny’s – no. 5 AND Boxwoods. Sneaky great selections, so curated.

2- Pottery painting with my daughter at Purple Glaze , a local pottery studio in Rice Village, and then never picking the pieces up. They also give us fruit snacks.

3- Jogging through Rice U and getting a vegan breakfast burrito at the Local Foods in the center of campus as my reward.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!

I’m the founder of Styled By Dale – a personal/editorial/corporate styling business here in Houston that helps people look and feel their best. My career began approximately 100 years ago at Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Moschino etc., and I’ve recently had the fun of sharing style tips locally on KPRC and KHOU.

Over the years, I’ve learned that fashion isn’t just about great clothes; It’s about confidence, connection, and showing up. I love helping people discover their fashion self. When you feel good in what you wear, everything else flows a little bit easier.

How has the Houston community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

The fashion community in Houston is honestly so warm and inviting. Boutiques are eager to connect  and so many clients are bold with their style choices! I’ve made wonderful friendships on both sides of my career and feel very lucky to call West U and Houston my home! Feel like it’s all our little secret, right??

What is the best advice for juggling mommyhood and running a business (or volunteering, working, etc)?

Only have 1 kid LO- Jk it’s still hard.

1-Remember to put everything in your calendar bc it’s not a great look to forget the parent/teacher meeting

2-Get an alarm clock and put your phone FAR AWAY from your bed at night. This helped me focus on parenting in the evenings and also not doomscroll at 1am.

3-I’ve personally simplified the after school madness, making sure my kid is involved and active but also not letting it all take over my non-working hours.

What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids?

Wow, love this question. I would tell her to stay at the bar until last call and sleep in every morning she can.

Funniest shortcut/routine for helping you through parenthood?

If you promise your child cotton candy with a sparkler from Coppa, they do all the things.
