This is my second year going on without a Valentine (besides my two adoring boys of course), and although I don’t really believe in the “Hallmark Holiday”… I sure am thrilled that Galentine’s Day is now a day that I can celebrate all of my wonderful female friendships, near and far!
Houston knows how to put on a good party and if you and your girl-crew are able to attend one of the awesome Galentine’s Day events Listed Here – please drink and toast with a glass of champagne for me! The parties include a DIY Jewelry Making party at Honey Art Cafe, a Champagne Soiree at Lucille’s, and a Boss Bish Networking Pop-Up at The Pop-up Co-op.
But, since this year’s Galentine’s Day falls on a Wednesday when some of us moms are busy toting the little ones around, why not get hubby on board or call the sitter and make it a legit holiday to celebrate this weekend!
I have curated a day filled with a few of my fave things to do around the city with my galpals…
Start the day out by doing one of Houston’s best workout classes, Warrior Yoga at Krav Maga Houston to awaken your inner badass or the super addictive HIP Fitness on the megaformer, F45 West University is touted as the most innovative team training workout in the world.
If high intensity isn’t your bag, indulge in a more relaxing class like the Hammock class at Define Bellaire or a Black Swan Yoga class with its luminous lighting, and music curated by the teachers themselves.
After showering, follow up that caloric-burn with breakfast/brunch – If your mood is artsy and earthy, try Vibrant for a creatively prepared Vegan dish. If you and your girlfriends want to feel especially feminine, brunching at Bloom & Bee in their floral lounge is reminiscent of a gorgeous garden filled with pink blooms. Personally, I can’t get enough Japanese food, and Izakaya Wa has been my go-to since they opened their second location in River Oaks.
What better way to digest lunch then to pamper yourself at one of our city’s many wellness centers:
Treat yourself to a massage or body wrap at Vida Health & Spa, I recommend the Chocolotherapy. Reset your body and mind at Defy Cryotherapy and Float – don’t forget to try their zero-gravity massage chair while you are there. Have you tried Traditional Chinese Acupuncture – if not, there’s always a first time for everything at Phoenix Rising Acupuncture . What better time to give your face some TLC than on Galentine’s Day with the fabulous Emily Zimmerman at Mirror Mirror Beauty Boutique. View available deals Here.
One of my favorite things about Houston is its amazing art scene … check out Rienzi, the Museum of Fine Arts House Museum in the historic River Oaks district or the Houston Center for Photography.
If you’ve never been to the Art of the World Gallery, you are about to discover a hidden gem in Houston – artists include Fernando Botero, Mr. Brainwash, Robert Indiana and Sophia Vari to name a few.
End the afternoon with dessert and a glass of wine at Tribute , the new restaurant in the Houstonian. Pastry Chef Catherine Rodriguez makes an incredible Churros with Hot Chocolate dish and with 4,000 bottles of wine to choose from, you can’t go wrong!
