Galveston Bay Foundation Holds Virtual Camp This Summer | West University Moms

WHO: Summer camps might be not be an option for everyone this year, but kids can still discover and explore the Galveston Bay virtually this summer thanks to the Galveston Bay Foundation’s Camp at Home and Wonders of Wetlands: Virtual Experience programs.

WHAT: With three different camp programs, there’s something for everyone. Campers will engage in hands-on activities and discussions with Galveston Bay educators while they explore the wildlife, ecosystem, biodiversity and more of the Galveston Bay safely from their home. Weeklong sessions will include virtual learning with supplemental activities, explorations and family missions to complete outside of the live camp time.

  1.  Camp at Home programs include Bay Explorers for ages 9 to 12 and Bay Naturalists for ages 13 to 18. Bay Explorers meet from 9 am to 10 am Monday through Friday; and Bay Naturalists meet from 1 to 3 pm Monday through Friday.Campers can choose from one of the following weeks for both programs:
    • June 22-26, July 6-10 and July 13-17

All Camp at Home week-long programs feature hands-on activities, zoom discussions and learning opportunities,
animal encounters. The registration fee is $100 per camper and includes a kit with all materials needed for the
activities and family missions (a $50 value). Each group is limited to 15 campers to allow plenty of opportunity
    for questions and interaction.
The Camp at Home program is limited to campers in the greater Houston-Galveston region to allow for
    camp kit distribution.

  2. The Wonders of Wetlands: A Virtual Experience program is open to campers ages 5 to 8 worldwide. During the one-hour interactive workshop, campers will learn about the Galveston Bay wetlands through song,
movement, crafts, animal encounters and story time.

Campers can choose from one of the following one-hour sessions:

  • June 16: 9 am – 10 am OR 1 pm – 2pm
  • June 18: 9 am – 10 am OR 1 pm – 2 pm
