Happy Galentines Day:celebrating your female friendships-West University Moms

Galentines Day is the day before Valentine’s Day, February 13th, where you celebrate all of your gal pals and the amazing friendships that have flourished with them!

As I have gotten older, and especially since becoming a mom, I have found more and more female friends agreeing that these friendships are among the most meaningful in their lives. I’m also a massive believer in supporting one another – we should build each other up not tear each other down – which is easy to forget in a world where we constantly compare ourselves and can be pitted against each other.

Female friendships can be extremely fulfilling, are often stronger than family ties and can outlast other relationships. Anthropologists have established that our female ancestors’ survival depended on a strong bond with the other women in their tribe. They would share the responsibilities of food gathering/preparing, assisting with child-birth and raising children while also taking care of each other. They were a continuous source of support and comfort to one another.

While we don’t feel we need an occasion to celebrate our chicas, Galentine’s Day is now a must to add to your social diary… a day or night where you get to put on your favorite non-mom outfit and share your favorite interests with your crew.

Here are a few fun local things to do this week for Galentines Day:
