Houston Holiday Festivities Around Town | West University Moms

It’s our favorite time of year and we’ve compiled a list of fun family activities to celebrate the season! From light festivals, train rides, ice skating, visits from Santa and holiday entertainment, there is something for every age.

The Polar Express by the Texas State Railroad is what we’re most excited about! November 16 – December 29. Read all about tickets and accommodations on their website!

Houston Zoo Lights is one of our favorite things to do during the holidays! Don’t get discouraged by the long line, it moves fast! Buy your tickets in advance online. November 23 – January 12, 5:30-10:30pm, last entry is at 9:30pm.

Discovery Green Ice Rink is fun for all ages! November 15 – Saturday February 2. Check their website for special hours and closures. Ticket sales support Discovery Green Conservancy, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that depends on the generosity of park visitors and other friends to maintain the park and to fund the more than 600+ free events held here every year.

The Nutcracker is finally back home at the Wortham Theater after suffering damage from Hurricane Harvey. Catch this magical show November 29 – December 29th

A Christmas Carol at the Alley Theatre is a family friendly adaptation of the this classic story! November 15 – December 29th.

The Children’s Museum has lots of holiday events scheduled this season. Visit their website to view their schedule and events.

The Festival of Lights at Moody Garden is a must for all families and a great day trip! November 16 – January 12

Dickens on the Strand is another great day trip for the family. Enjoy entertainers, food & vendors! December 6-8.

Jingle on the Boardwalk at Kemah for holiday fun, visit with Santa, music, movies ad food!  December 6-22. The Christmas Boat Lane Parade is on December 14th.

What child would pass up having Breakfast with Santa at the Downtown Aquarium. Select dates from December 7th through 24th.

We first visited the Christmas Village at Bayou Bend last year and we were blown away! This is a great adventure for kids or a date night! Be sure to book your tickets in advance! December 12th – 30th.

Pick your own Christmas tree at the Old Time Christmas Tree Farm in Spring. Kids are entertained by train rides, inflatables and photos with Santa!

Take a photo with Santa at Santa’s Workshop in Rice Village and enjoy crafts and cupcakes by Susiecakes across the street.
