Where were you born? I was born in California and moved to Houston when I was in Kindergarten – my parents and grandparents are Houstonian natives.
Child(ren) and Age(s)? We have three little girls – five-year-old twins and a three year old.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you… I won a chicken wing eating contest in college. I had IVF twins and lost 60 pounds through boxing. I also have had 31 professional fights spanning over 10 countries.
Favorite local activities to do in Houston? We love going to Ipic, eating at BB Lemon, and going to all the many Houston parks, our favorite is Levy Park.
Do you have a favorite family-friendly restaurant in the area? We always go to Candelaris or Punks (they don’t mind us throwing things on the floor, ha) and we love the green space at Punks. Houston needs more green spaces like that!
What local places do you go to for pampering and/or mom’s night out? For pampering I get my hair blown out at Trellis Spa or get my nails done at River Oaks Nails by Whole Foods.
Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? After discovering my love of boxing after having my kids and losing so much weight, I decided to add my business base from being in the energy trading world to the fitness space and marry the two together. I teamed up with Lou Savarese, a former professional boxer who lives down the street and we opened Savarese Fight Fit in West U one year ago.
We offer private classes, group classes, kid’s classes and more. Local families love our empowering Youth Fight Fit community. The kid’s classes are held from 3-7pm throughout the week for ages 5-16. The classes are kept small and broken down into age groups. The instructors combine age-specific concepts and bring them into a team building environment.
