Meet a Mom – Meet Nita Singhal, M.D of AFC Urgent Care | West University Moms

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Houston?

I grew up in India.  Houston became my home after relocating here from California in 2003 and have been a West University resident ever since.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?

My son, Arjun, is 15 years old and my daughter, Aditri, is 14 years old.

Favorite local activities to do in Houston?

My Saturday mornings are oftentimes spent walking in Eastern Glades in Memorial Park, followed by a Saturday afternoon in Discovery Green.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!

I am currently the Medical Director for AFC Urgent Care and have held this role since its birth in the Houston, TX area in 2011. (www.afcurgentcare.com)  Working to start the first clinic in the West University area gave me so much joy and sealed my connection to AFC Urgent Care.  After 11 years with the company, we now have 8 clinics within the Greater Houston area and anticipate several new clinics to open later this year.

How has the Houston community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now?

The support and patronage of the community in the West University area allowed us to grow into this successful company we are today.

What is the best advice for juggling mommyhood and running a business (or volunteering, working, etc)?

By being a working professional and a mother, I have learned that multi-tasking and having a flexible work schedule are the key to juggling it all.

What would you tell the old “You” before you had kids?

I would tell my “pre-motherhood self” to RELAX, hard work and destiny will determine your path to success.
