Over 4,200 seniors in the Houston/Galveston area rely on IM’s Meals on Wheels program every day. Most of these seniors are still recovering from Hurricane Harvey and need our help more than ever. They need you to bring them a little extra holiday cheer along with their traditional Thanksgiving meal! Thank you for caring about seniors in need. Together, we can make sure that no senior goes hungry, on Thanksgiving or any other day!

SUPER FEAST

The SUPER FEAST is held annually on Thanksgiving & Christmas Eve Day at the George R. Brown Convention Center, where thousands are served with not only traditional hot nutritious meals but also clothing, household items, shoes, blankets, coats, jackets, flu shots, medical examinations, food baskets, haircuts, new toys, vehicles, and more.

Additionally, information is also available on affordable housing, educational and employment opportunities, where applicable information is also presented on City Wide’s Life-Recovery Programs and a path that ultimately leads to a way off the streets.

The Super Feast model has been organized in communities nationwide; where local partners help us meet the specific needs of individuals and families who are in need during the Holiday Season at convention and community centers.

Operation Turkey – Houston Northwest

Come be a part of helping to feed the homeless and less fortunate. We will be making 10,000 meals at 4 locations here in Houston on Thanksgiving Day to help those that are hungry have a hot meal. There is something for everyone to do, from the kids decorating plates, to heating up the food, to making the plates, and going out into the community to serve these people. Come when you can and stay as long as you can. We look forward to seeing everyone on Thanksgiving!!

Kids’ Meals Houston

Kids’ Meals Houston works to end childhood hunger by delivering free, healthy meals to the doorsteps of children ages five and under facing hunger due to poverty. Monday through Friday, volunteers prepare thousands of healthy lunches and then deliver the meals to children enrolled in the program. Kids’ Meals Houston also provides children with additional resources such as free books. Volunteers are needed around the holidays to help with preparation for Thanksgiving, as Kids’ Meals distributes over 1,500 turkeys and grocery bags to every household enrolled in the program, as well as to assist with the holiday parties for the children enrolled in the program.

Other ways to help include donating holiday food items, gift cards, and toys, or by participating in their adopt-a-family program. Kids’ Meals Houston accepts volunteers of any age to volunteer at the Ripley House location. Volunteers at the Garden Oaks Center need to be 8 years of age or older. All volunteers need to sign up ahead of time to volunteer either online or by emailing [email protected].
