Houston Christian High School Ensures All Families Have Access to Education through New Tuition Model
In an industry where there are ever climbing tuition prices, Houston Christian High School is taking strides to ensure all families continue to have access to dynamic, intentional education through an innovative new tuition model called indexed tuition.
Houston Christian is an independent, nonprofit, coed day school accredited by Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS) and serves nearly 500 students in ninth through twelfth grades. The school recently introduced indexed tuition, a sliding scale payment system where families pay based on their annual income and other factors, after seeing the strain high tuition was placing on many Houston families.
“Our founders built Houston Christian on the ideal of providing dynamic, intentional education to a broad cross-section of the community. Over the years we’ve watched as middle income families have slowly stopped enrolling due to rising tuition.” said Head of School Dr. Stephen Livingston. “Indexed tuition will make high-quality, Christian education accessible to Houston families again.”
With nearly 70 percent of its faculty awarded advanced degrees, Houston Christian provides rigorous, collegiate-style academic programs where students are challenged to discover their potential and to become difference-makers in their communities. Houston Christian’s method of encouraging student inquiry has produced National Merit Scholars, Fulbright Scholars, perfect SAT and ACT scores, and graduates who attend the most esteemed universities in the country. In addition, our graduating classes are regularly offered more than $7 million in collegiate scholarships. Houston Christian alumni grace the boardrooms, Broadway stages, courtrooms, pulpits and classrooms of our nation, and Houston Christian is proud to hear of each success along their path.
